The Asia-Oceania Association for the Study of Overweight and Obesity (AOASO) is an organization composed of the different obesity societies within the Asia-Oceania region. In 2011, the Philippines through the Philippine Association for the Study of Overweight and Obesity (PASOO) in cooperation with the Asia-Oceania Association for the Study of Obesity and Philippine Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism (PSEM) will co-organize the 6th Asia-Oceania Congress of Obesity (AOCO) 2011 with the theme “The Growing Problem of Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome: The Asia-Oceania Perspective.” It will be held on August 31 to September 2, 2011 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila and will feature international and regional experts in the scientific program that will certainly be of interest to many health professionals in the region. The AOCO is a biennial event held in such major cities as in Japan, Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan, Seoul, and India.
